This is a challenging assessment requiring the candidate to satisfactorily complete a comprehensive, holistic financial planning report and provide recommendations relative to a specific client case study provided by the CISI.
You have up to 10 weeks to complete the financial planning report which will be assessed independently and will either be graded as a pass or fail. If the latter, you will have two further attempts to complete the report to a pass standard, after which a new case study will need to be attempted.

Level 7 Diploma in Advanced Financial Planning
On completion of the CISI’s Level 6 Advanced Financial Planning exam (or alternative assessment for those with existing Level 6 financial planning qualifications) and the Level 7 Financial Planning case study assessment, candidates will attain the Level 7 Diploma in Advanced Financial Planning. This postgraduate level qualification covers all of the knowledge and application skills required to provide private clients with the highest level of financial planning service.
Level 7 Case Study Syllabus
The Level 7 Case Study deliverable incorporates the entire financial planning process which includes:-
- Establishing the client relationship
- Understanding client goals, gathering information and making key assumptions
- Analysing the client’s position relative to their goals
- Establishing clear pathways and making holistic, justifiable recommendations
- Establishing an action plan
- Carrying out regular reviews of the plan
Candidates must be familiar with the comprehensive syllabus laid out by the CISI. In addition, expert coaching can help to structure the plan, identify shortfalls and apply technical knowledge appropriately throughout the multiple steps of the financial plan.
1:1 Bespoke Coaching for the Level 7 Case Study
Due to the complexity of this advanced deliverable alongside the unique approach required, we only offer 1:1 coaching for this assessment. This helps us to provide bespoke study support in line with individual’s needs and availability.
Study support for the Level 7 case study is available within a 10 week period from the release of the CISI case study to the due date of financial plan.

- Our basic package provides 6 hours of bespoke 1:1 study support including:
- Initial meeting – review case study, discuss the approach and agree objectives
- Midpoint meeting – share work so far, review progress and to discuss areas requiring further work in order to complete the plan
- Final meeting – review plan, iron out any concerns prior to the submission deadline.
- Tutor time to review work prior to each meeting and assess your work.
6 hours is shared roughly equally between the 3 x meetings and review / assessment time. If additional support is required this is charged at an hourly rate.
What is the fee for the 1:1 bespoke coaching?
